Default Are you a SHOWOFF?

So which Movies & Chapter's do you play to show off your Home Theater?

1. Casino Royale (Bluray) The 2nd chapter, the chase: I use that to show PCM(UNCOMPRESSED).. I go back and forth with the audio stream. I'm not sure if I am more amazed how the PCM sound or how well my cheap speakers sound.

2. SpiderMan3 (Bluray) When peter gets snatched off of the scooter, the music & sound is wonderful. I watch that until the goblin gets knocked out.

3. Transformers (HD-360 Addon) Chapter 20: When they are downtown and fighting, the bass from the guns loooooovvvveeee it and when starscream leaps into the air and transform(the build up noise as he is doing it, is jaw dropping sound to me)
THE DECEPTICONS ATTACK!!!!!!

Well, I like to showoff by just talking about blu-ray and how good the quality is. Sometimes I invite people over to my house to show them what it looks like.

better not show off too much, or the MPAA might fine you.

I don't think that is really going to happen, and it is an old news story.

While not that great video-wise, the bamboo forest scene in House of Flying Daggers makes for a great surround sound demo. All the bamboo flying through the air and being swung about.. the leaves making their leafy sounds as the soldiers 'run' through them.. very neat.

Ratatouille's probably the best for a video demo that I've seen.. my parents couldn't believe how good the water looked when Little Chef was fleeing.

The helicopters in Species stood out as having a neat bass feeling.. I haven't watched many of my discs again since installing my sub, so there are probably much better demos for that.

And Corpse Bride or the Pirates of the Caribbean movies are great for all-round demos.

I hope it is a joke, I think that just about everyone on this forum would be in violation of those kinds of rules.

A home theater is defined as a 29" tv with stereo sound and two comfortable chairs..... HA! I guess I'm in for life if they see my setup!

I would love to be able to showoff Transformers on Blu, hopefully its not too far off.

I really don't play a specific movie or scene to demonstrate the PQ and AQ of BLU-RAY. Most are so good anyway compared to oldray DVDs.

That being said, I was impressed with I Robot, 3:10 to Yuma, Saw IV - and of course, the OP's three titles.

One of the best surround sound elements in a film was the breaking of the ice dam glacier in Ice Age - The Meltdown.

Sweet.

What part/chapter in IRobot really stood out to you? why are you saying 3:10? I don't remember any part of that movie that made my speakers/sub do anything impressive.

I don't "show-off" my system, but when asked what the difference is, and how is it better etc... I just throw a DVD in the standard player, and throw the same movie, Blu-Version in the PS3, and play the same scene on each (30-45 seconds each is all it takes) and that usually answers all the questions they have...... Blade-Runner, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, 2001, and Casino Royale are all good for this...... for the father-in-law I showed him the opening scene of Casino Royale, and when he said "wow", I showed him 2001, and kindly reminded him what year it was filmed.......
