I voted for Smaug because it genuinely is a great performance and it's the coolest character he's played and ever will play. You can't beat a giant ****ing dragon.

tough one. but I think I have to go with Doctor Strange.

it's weird to think about how little he's actually been in. He seems like he's everywhere.

HM: Doctor Strange, The Imitation Game

He was very good in Stuart: A Life Backwards as well. It co-stars another then rising interweb breaking superstar (Tom Hardy) and is worth the watch.

Was tempted to go for The Imitation Game as it's a great performance but I think BBC's Sherlock is brilliant so it wins for me.

as I have not seen all of Benedict's work, I may say I have possibly not seen his best work, however my FAVOURITE is his portrayal of KHAN in Star Trek!. a very cold menace.

"Cold menace" is an excellent description. His expressions of sadness and anger were great too.
He was awesome as Khan.

I went with Sherlock Holmes, but I honestly cannot say he's gave a bad performance in anything. Even his radio work in things like "Cabin Pressure" have been fantastic, and his stage work is brilliantly done.

Voted for Sherlock, he was acceptable in it. Although to me the acting spotlight goes to Martin Freeman.

Gotta give props to the powerful voice of Smaug the Magnificent. There is footage of Benedict doing the mocap for Smaug, and he really gets into the role, and draws you past the silly mocap-suited guy writhing on his belly, right to the dragon.
