Default Gen2 BD players, what do you expect?

I know it may be too soon but anyway

I assume there will be gen2 BD players announced on CES 2007. That's in 3 weeks or so.
What do you guys expect and hope to see in new players?

I got refurbished Sammy s a temporary solution till G2 players were out.
Mainly I want HDMI1.3 (not that I have a real need for it, but better be there). Definitely #1 is 1080p/24fps playback, and of course very important to have faster boot times. Well, there's few other things like pip and some missing audio codecs but those I can live w/o for a while.

I expect a player at a price level that is a match to the A2. Forgetting everything else, about the only thing that HD DVD fans keep screaming is that HD DVD costs less for a stand alone player compared to Blu-ray. Yes, they forget the PS3, but it still is a real agenda item that Blu-ray is missing.

So, it may end up being a first generation LG or something, but it MUST happen - and soon!

I agree - it will be good to see what LG's price tag is.
CES 2007 is more exciting to me right now than Christmas, but I wouldn't tell anyone outside of this forum that.
Haha.

HDMI 1.3 and probably 1080p support that includes the 24 fps (aside from the standard 60 fps or so).

Guess that's it.

Also requesting for a super-budget player like $500 (other than the PS3 of course).

I think I agree with all of that. If a budget player is released, I would want it to be on a par with the Samsung.

Better specs maybe but not lower prices. Not until 3rd or 4th gen.

Why? BD-Live has to be a standard BD feature by middle of next year. That means more persistent memory and maybe a small HDD. Adds to the price.

Yep. Besides, Amazon is selling the Phillips for $699+free shipping right now, that's pretty darned cheap if you ask me, and the Phillips, unlike the A2, has analogue 5.1 outs, so it actually has a better feature set.
