Which western do you prefer more: True Grit (2010) or 3:10 to Yuma (2007)?

Although True Grit has a better female protagonist than any of the female characters in 3:10 to Yuma, I have to go with 3:10 to Yuma because it was more exciting, better action & story, great sound and music, and it was very touching. The only thing I really liked about True Grit were the cartoonish characters.

With all this Oscar/Golden Globe award talk for True Grit, I don't understand how a movie like 3:10 to Yuma got practically ignored by those award shows (it was only nominated for sound and music). Maybe it's all about the timing - maybe westerns are more "in" now than they were in 2007.

What I also liked about the two films is that they both had bad-ass little guys (Ben Foster and Barry Pepper). I find it funny and interesing that short actors can get better roles in westerns than in contemporary time-period movies. For example, Ben Foster just does not seem threatening in a movie like Jason Statham's The Mechanic, but he truly seems menacing in 3:10 to Yuma.
