CANADA!
Default Need some advice on a couple center speakers

OK so Im in the market for a new center speaker, thanks to my nice tax refund this year Anyways Im looking at the following ones

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN

and

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN

Could someone tell me why the more expensive one is better? Im a total noob with home theatre stuff is all... and some guidance would be awesome...

Or if someone could recommend a better center speaker from here:

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/sub...EN&catid=10553

It would be greatly appreciated... I figure Id stick with Polk... since everything I have speaker wise is Polk already...

Cheers in advance!

Timbre-matching is important for the front speakers, I'm not familiar with Polk so I recommend you start with what Polk recommends to go along with your left and right speakers.

Which speakers do you already have? Model # or size would be best. Try to stick with the same level of speakers you have. If you have a lower end speaker from polk, then do a lower end center channel. If you have a nicer speaker from them, then do their more expensive center. The reason behind it is to try and have the same sound all the way around your speakers (timbre matching), or at least as close as possible.

For my right/left fronts I have the Polk RTi10's and then my rears are Polk RTi6's

The guy I spoke with at Futureshop said that I could go either way with the two I listed above the CSI4 or the 6... he said the 6 would be my better choice since I have the RTi10's.... but I just wanted to get all your opnions before I shell out the $$$

Cheers!

The only real difference in the A6 and the A4 is the size of the mid-range drivers- 6 1/2" in the A6 vs. 5 1/2 in the A4(plus a larger cabinet to match the larger drivers). I would say the A6 is the best match because it has exactly the same drivers you have in you fronts, so matching up timbre is a non-issue.

If you have Polk in the other channels, you should definitely stick with Polk for the center channel. Don't mix and match brands. Do spend more on the center channel, as it is the most important channel for movies. That's the channel that you will hear most of the time.

Personally, I use NHT speakers all around. They are awesome speakers IMHO. My center channel also has two 6" drivers. It sounds great, and blends in perfectly with the front channels. The larger drivers give movie dialogues a richer and warmer sound. I am glad that I didn't go with the smaller version. Good luck.
