Default Best Herschell Gordon Lewis Film?

Herschel Gordon Lewis was a crazy film director who created the "splatter" sub-genre of horror, whose films gained notoriety in the 1960s as being the very first examples of extreme gore in cinema. Lewis' 1963 debut 'Blood Feast' is the earliest film in history to be classified a video nasty, and has gained a cult following for it's bad acting, bad direction, weird theme and extreme gore. John Waters is famously a huge fan of the film, and made a cameo appearance in the film's 2002 sequel 'Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat'.

He was famously referenced in the popular movie 'Juno' and his movie 'The Wizard of Gore' was played on television. The film was remade in 2007 starring Crispin Glover.

His second splatter film 'Two Thousand Maniacs!' was remade in 2005 as '2001 Maniacs' and starring Robert Englund.

His last film for thirty years was titled 'The Gore Gore Girls', which to this day remains banned in Australia and has been refused classification on several occasions - the film is particularly infamous for a scene where a black woman's nipple is severed and she bleeds chocolate milk.

1. 'Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat' [2002] - B+
2. 'Two Thousand Maniacs!' [1964] - B
3. 'Color Me Blood Red' [1965] - B+
4. 'Blood Feast' [1963] - D

5. 'The Wizard of Gore' [1968] - D-

Wizard of Gore was the first H.G. Lewis movie I've ever seen, but my favorite is still Blood Feast.
