Hey guys, I have a question. I bought this HDTV - http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Eleme...oductDetail.do
It's a 26" 720p HDTV. I'm wondering. Could somone tell me how clear (crisp/crystal clear) a blue ray disc would be on it? I'm thinking about getting a PlayStation 3. I'm wondering could somone maybe show a picture of how clear a blue ray DVD on a 26" 720p HDTV would be? Like would it be clearer then iO TV's HD Channels/Commercials? WOuld anyone be able to tell me how clear a blue ray dvd would be on my TV? Anyone have a picture or somthing, or could tell me? Thanks! ![]() |

FYI your link is broken.
I couldn't tell you how sharp and clear it's going to look on your TV, because there really isn't a way to word something you just have to see. But, standard definition, including regular DVDs are displayed in 480 lines. On your TV, that's 480 lines of info spread over 720 possible display lines. With blu-ray, you're getting 1080 lines of info compressed into 720. That's a lot more visual information available, so compared to standard def, it should look a whole lot sharper even on a 26" 720p TV. Now, compared to HD cable... that is a tough question. I think most broadcasts are done in 1080i, but the big question here is the quality of the original film. I watch HD cable and find that it still looks like garbage, because to me, it still looks low resolution compared to blu-ray. There are all kinds of display artifacts which are very noticeable and its reminiscent of watching CD-sized .AVI rips of DVD movies. I see what looks like compressed video on HD cable. Blu-ray on the other hand looks absolutely incredible. Picture definition blows HD cable away. Picture contrast and color intensity blows HD cable away. Audio blows HD cable away. You get the picture. Now, that's on a 46" TV. On a 26" TV, you can get away with more I think, because the visual information isn't stretched over as large of a surface as say on a 46". So on smaller TVs, 720p looks crisper than on a 46" TV. I think the differences between HD cable and blu-ray for you, will be less evident because your of your TV size, but I would think blu-ray would still look superior. If you are really concerned, head to best buy or something and ask them to demo a blu-ray on a 26" 720p set and decide for yourself. |

Thank you very much. So your saying Blu-Ray DVDS (on my 720p 26" HDTV) should look more crisp then HD Cable on my TV?
