Angry DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1

Why do the Sony Blu-ray players not support DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1. I rented Saw IV specifically to listen to a 7.1 blu-ray but Sony blu-ray players only can play these in 5.1!!!! Why is this. Do other players support 7.1?

My Panny does 7.1. The problem is that there is really not a set ausio standard for Blu-ray players.

Default not clear

But the Sony supports PCM 7.1 and true HD 7.1. Lionsgate puts some in PCM and some in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1. Makes no sense.

Yeah, Lionsgate are big fan of DTS on DVD. So i guess they'll put more and more release on DTS HD MA. They released a couple of DTS HD HR in 2006 too.

With the number of player that bitstream it and decode it and the number of amp decoding it (with the PS3 that should be doing it sooner than later) you'll see more and more of it..

Which model do you have. Alot of players don't even supprt DTS Master Audio. It would be a good idea for the moment to have more Blu-rays to be 7.1 PCM.

You need to look at the list of blu players and see what models are compatible with full DTS-HD MA.

Not many can decode this internally or pass it through for decoding at a receiver at the moment.

DTS was a little late in the game and this also affected HD-DVD players.
(did you even notice any DTS-HD MA HD-DVD titles available?)

Edit After a little reading, even though the specs say it does DTS MA many people say it doesn't work

Default sony

so just put in War which is PCM 7.1 and Onkyo receiver is now playing 7.1 Bottom line is that when Sony made this player (the 500) I guess they made it to decode True HD 7.1 and PCM 7.1 but only DTS-HD MA 5.1. I guess I just have to hope the new 7.1 blu-rays are PCM or True HD 7.1 and not DTS-HD MA 7.1 or buy a different player. Seems like Sony dropped the ball on this one.
