In a way but not really. My mom hated the ending. She almost started crying. We both saw it for the first time today when I got it on blu. Looked and sounded great.

I think the ending is amazing. Should go down in film histroy as one of the greatest movie endings of all time. On level with the original War of the Worlds.

It ruined the movie for me and eliminated any kind of empathy I had throughout the movie for the main character.

I originally hated it, but now at least I'll know it's coming. The creatures in the movie were so cool, and there was some incredible tension.

I was hoping for an alternate ending on the blu-ray, but whatever...

Awesome. Shocked the hell out of me and, to me, made me believe there is still a little left in Hollywood to keep my hopes alive for original movies.

Never saw it, but heard about the ending, from the sounds of it, it sounds kinda stupid.

But I'll give it a watch

I felt like it was a pointless way to wrap up the film. Maybe if they had done it and there was no help coming, it'd be different. However, how it was handled was done for shock value only.

It was fantastic, but extremely sad. Really heartwrenching and unexpected.

I didn't mind the ending but I really found it unrealistic that the main character would
[Show spoiler]shoot the remaining survivors including his son
. I don't care how tragic the situation was, he just seemed to be a character of high moral values that would never resort to what he did.

How the hell would he know help was coming?

He's not saying if the main character knew help was coming but if the ending would have played out as is but just not have the calvary come to the rescue.

Sorry, didn't phrase it well. I'm not saying he knew- obviously he didn't know. My point is that when you have the characters make this extreme choice (which I actually liked) and then made it a total waste and pointless because in rolls the army not two minutes later, it made it for shock value only.

I thought the ending was appropriately devastating for a movie as dark as The Mist. But, it also makes repeat-viewings a little less enjoyable.
