Rock Band: Stars vs. Difficulty Level?

OK, first off, this game "rocks", no pun intended (well maybe).

But on to my question...

Each gig can be played on 1 of 4 difficulty levels (Easy - Expert). Each gig can earn you 1-5 stars.

I can play the easy level and get 5 stars, or the medium and get 3-4 stars. (Yes, I know I suck).

So the question is, which is better for the World Tour career mode, stars or difficulty, and why?

Both are good and do different (or rather, the same) things.

You can only do certain tasks and arenas on certain difficulty levels. You can't, for instance, do the Endless Setlist on EASY.

The same though can be said for STARS. The more STARS you earn the more you unlock.

So... one strategy might be to star the tour off on EASY, earn and do as much as you can. And when you can't progress any further, kick it up to MEDIUM.
