Best Buy price matches Amazon.com?

I was in line at Best Buy and the person in front of me was price matching some DVD's with Amazon.com....I was under the impression BB won't price match online-only retailers. Anyone else have success with this?

And fyi it was definitely Amazon.com, not Target.

I wonder if different stores, have different policies? I know for a fact that mine wont, as I tried 2 weeks ago

I don't think this is something that works across the board.

Most likely the management at that particular location is allowing the exception to go through, or the individuals approving of the price match just don't know any better.

I guess next time you go there, take a print out of the amazon price with you and see if it works. If it works, great, and if it doesn't, then you are no worse off than you would be if you didn't even try.

I got Best Buy to price match amazon for There Will Be Blood, Cloverfield, and Weeds Season 3. When I walked up to the counter the manager told me they aren't suppose to price match websites but that he would price match almost anything. It all just depends on the manager...

Depends on the store, but most stores will not price match Amazon.

my sister is a manager @ the best buy here in town and she won't even price match them for me. her general manager is a real piece of work so she's just watching out for herself b/c the general manager would come down hard on stuff like that.

if you NEED to pricematch with amazon go to target.com. BB will pricematch with target, and target sells all their online media through amazon. so the prices are the same. but it looks like its coming from target.com

This is a YMMV thing - varely rarely will someone get Best Buy to do this...

IN my local BB, I had one manager do a price match for me from frys.com. But I went a month later and tried to price match again with frys.com and it was a different manager and he wouldn't do it. It all just depends on the manager.

umm, i consider it to be labeled under the hot deal section since it references using amazon's deals at best buy stores. if you don't agree with it why bother wasting time to complain?

Perhaps you should read the forum rules for the "Hot Deals" forum

This thread applies to everyone, it just might not work for everyone. I'd rather let people know a deal could work so they can try and take advantage of it then not share it at all (example, the faulty amazon promotion from 3 weeks ago that didn't work for everyone but applied to everyone. it became a massive thread and helped out a lot of people). but I'll make sure to leave you off the memo next time if you feel so strongly about not being informed of such opportunities.

You are missing the point, big time.

This is not a deal. Everyone here that bothers to SEARCH can see that this has been mentioned many times - as sometimes you can encounter a sales associate that doesn't know that it is against Best Buy's policy to pricematch an online retailer. You even said that "IT MIGHT NOT WORK FOR EVERONE." Which is why IT IS NOT A HOT DEAL.

Let me break it down for you - since you didn't get the quote I posted from the forum rules....

To be a "Hot Deal" it must be something that anybody can take advantage of. Getting lucky with a confused sales associate is a "YMMV" thing. Your Mileage May Vary.
To sum it up...I could not walk into Best Buy tomorrow morning and get the same deal that you did. Hence, it is NOT a hot deal.

i think you're kinda missing the point, dude. i get that the thread doesn't fall under the criteria for a hot deal and that not everyone can take part in it, but i thought i'd still share that some people have had success with it and others might as well. i dont care to get into a big argument about it with you, if the thread needs to be moved then hopefully the mod will move it. otherwise try and find something else to do with your life besides patrol forums and point out wrong threads. i'm just trying to help people out.

Does Best Buy match the price of say Target's online website price or do I need to get price information from a Target store and bring it into Best Buy. No idea how I would do that though...

will if you go to target.com and you search for the BD your looking for, just print out the item and present it to a best buy sales rep @ the cash register.
