With all of the questions regarding the new 80GB MGS PS3 and what cell processor it has, I performed a test.
I took my new Monster PRO3500 power conditioner, and took turns connecting my 20GB PS3 which has the 90nm cell, and my new 80GB MGS PS3. Each time I got a reading, the PS3 was the only component connected to the power conditioner. Let me make it clear that I'm not an electricity expert, I just wanted to see if one consumes more power than the other. First was the 20GB PS3. After turning on the PS3 and letting it run for approximately 5 minutes, the power conditioner indicated a peak amperage of 1.6. Picture: ![]() Next was the 80GB PS3. After turning on the PS3 and letting it run for approximately 5 minutes, the power conditioner indicated a peak amperage of 1.2.
