Default What is a "PS3 Edition" BD?

I see ebay auctions for "PS3 Edition" Blu-Ray movies, not sure what that means. I wanted to get Live Free Or Die Hard but it said that and I didn't know what that meant, like is it a stripped down disc or something? I think I have seen that phrase used on there for some other movies as well.

I've seen some use that phrase when talking about the movies included in the box with the PS3 but I thought Talledega Nights and Spiderman 3 were the only movies that have been included with the PS3.

A lot of them have a sticker on them that says plays in the PS3 just to make sure people know the PS3 is a blu-ray player so maybe they're confused about that?

I've seen it for 300, Ratatouille, King Arthur and a few others and I know they don't come with the PS3. So I guess maybe it's just like you said to let people know it plays on it and that the moies are exactly the same?

Basically was for Talladega Nights. A BD25 with the theatrical version was bundled with PS3s for the '06 holiday season, while the retail version of the movie was the unrated version on a BD50. This instance, "PS3 edition" is a very important piece of information as to what you're receiving.

People call the Spiderman 3 that was bundled for the '07 holiday season a PS3 version, though I'm don't think it differed from the retail version.

If you are looking at a "PS3 edition" Live Free or Die Hard, that's just not correct in any sense. I'm guessing the seller probably had the box set and selling the one movie, and calling it a "PS3 edition" so you don't get mad it doesn't come with a Blu-ray case? Just a stab in the dark here.

Ok so for Talladega Nights that makes sense. I guess then the other movies that use the phrasing are really no different and I can pick them up without lacking anything.

There are three Blu-ray movies that have been packed with the PS3.

Talladega Nights (North America launch, ~400,000 copies)
Casino Royale (Europe launch, ~500,000 copies)
Spiderman 3 (worldwide 40GB launch, unknown how many copies)

Anything else billed as "PS3 edition" is mislabelled and/or misleading.

If it was on ebay, they put ps3 in the title to get more hits.

Well I considered that too but knowing that there actually was a different version of Talladega Nights that came with the PS3 I didn't want to get burned.
