Default Oh MY! lol nobody mention anything about this!

My Sr805 just got in today, $600 from eCost and wow it's freakin sweet! The ultra2 mode PCM was a real treat, it's let me use all 7 speaker for 5.1 movies.
anyway, i am estactic about it, i just got back in my room after blasting my ear off.
sr805 is ALOT better than the sr605 =)

now i have to find a place to store the 605, can't really sell it back on ebay because the shipping is crazy.

But yes, the point of the story is that if you are planning to get sr605, you should wait and save it for the 805. I am really happy with it.

Pretty much what I did. I had bought the 605 and less then 30 days I took it back to CC and bought a 805 and LOVE IT!!!

I really didn't want to take the 605 back, I wanted to keep it for my bedroom. I guess when I'm ready for another 605 I will catch a good deal.

Hey yellowblanket, I had clicked on your link to 'myspace' and it said you live in Sterling Heights?

I live in Detroit, how much are you selling the 605 for?

350 and it's all your sir. I just bought it brand new like a week ago and used it once to watch I Am Legend. Still have the receipt here for your 2 years warranty from Onkyo.

How come you just don't take it back to the store you got it from since it's been less then 2 weeks? I mean that's what I did, except I waited till the last day with Circuit City on the 29th day.

Don't get me wrong that is a good price, but I see that site you went to have it for $279.

Im not in a super rush for 1, but I will be changing what I have in the bedroom. I currently have a HTiB and it's simply ok, nice when I am watching a horror movie with the cute little 5.1 speakers going.

Only time I really start to watch a movie in my room is when my girlfriend says "Let's watch a movie in the bedroom", but I know better. We never finish watching anything in that room

The 805 is a fair amount larger and it is HEAVY. Plus you really need to allow about 5 inches above the unit for cooling purposes. If you have got the space, this isnt just a worthy upgrade, its a must!

Edit: 17-1/8"W x 7-5/8"H x 18-1/4"D from Crutchfield

I'm still surprised that receivers are bought based on

A) Listed Wattage
B) Inputs/Outputs
C) Features

And people completely disregard the sound quality..... heck, most people don't even audition them with their own speakers, so you're spending $500-$1,000 on what's basically a blind-buy......

Onkyo could make "True HD-SCAPE-ULTRA-SONIC SOUND SETTING" and people would eagerly lap it up.... I just don't get it......

Yeah I agree with that. I have a buddy that works at Fry's Electronics, and hew was able to lend me one of their "loaners" so that I can try it out. (If you buy a protection plan, they have to give you a loaner until they can fix/replace yours.) 805 was amazing. Sounded great even powering my tiny satellite speakers. I can't wait to get my Full Polk system with it.

Are you implying that people buy Onkyo recievers because of the listed features a power output when the recievers themselves actually sound like crap? I have the 805 and love it. To me, it sounded better than the Yamaha V1800 and I really could not tell a difference between it and the Denon.
