Default Walk Hard

Hey, I'm new to this forum, but just wanted to give you a heads up about Walk Hard on Blu-Ray. I was at a wholesale club yesterday and to my surprise, there was 4 copies of Walk Hard on Blu! They don't have a big selection of blu-ray, so I guess someone just screwed up and broke street date by accident.

Anyway, the disc doesn't disappoint as there are just TONS of extras (as with any Apatow movie) and both versions of the movie. It really shows what blu-ray is capable of doing. The big thing for me was having both versions on one disc as so often they only give you the unrated edition and you'd have to buy a second version for the theatrical release (in case you are a super fan and wanted both versions.) And the movie is just really funny.

I was kinda disappointed with BD-Live as there were only 3 videos and then some trailers for other movies coming out in the theater and blu-ray. I don't know if it's going to be extra features added to it later or what, but I just expected more.

Anyway, keep your eyes open at wholesale clubs that have a blu section as they may "accidentally" break street and you can get the movie early because you're as impatient as I am.

I'll take a picture tonight of all the extras. I haven't even had a chance to view the second disc with most of them on it. The unrated cut is 24 minutes longer too. This was a blind buy for me as I didn't get to the movies to see it. But I'm a firm believer that if Judd Apatow touched it, it was going to be funny. I was not disappointed!

Both cuts? That's a nice touch for a change.

That was the most impressive thing for me. I thought the unrated Talladega Nights was bad as they got rid of some of my favorite jokes. I had to go back and buy the theatrical cut so I could remember why I liked the movie so much.

I've been thinking of doing a blind buy on this one. I've heard it was good.

Mine's been pre-ordered from amazon for a while. I'm a sucker for these kinds of movies so I'm looking forward to it!

Amazon.com is selling it for $24.95, which is definitely the cheapest you'll find it on release day.

I just canceled my amazon pre-order this morning. I still only wound up paying 27.99, but it was a week early, so I couldn't complain about the price.

the theatrical version had the male nudity as well. I'm guessing that's why they got the R-rating because there wasn't a lot of bad language.

Thanks for the info on the movie.

Also, looks like the PQ got a good rating at HTS.

PQ 94/100

Quote:
The 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoding presented here had an average bitrate of 26 mbps and was of reference quality. This is an extremely dynamic and visually arresting video presentation. Detail is superbly rendered with three dimensional depth, crisp lines and lifelike texture. Contrast levels are spot on with excellent delineation within brightly lit scenes containing bright white and gray tones. Colors are oversaturated with primaries that lean toward warmer tones. I found them to be pleasing overall and not distracting. Fleshtone reproduction varied from pale to lifelike. Several of the female cast members were pasty white which made darker colored lipstick appear exaggerated. This was less of an issue with the male cast who for the most part appeared more lifelike and natural. Shadow delineation was rendered with aplomb as it offered excellent acuity, and depth within dark areas and low light scenes. I saw no signs of compression or video related anomalies. If I had to sum this one up in one word, I would describe it as pristine. Transfers like this are the reason that we as enthusiasts strive so hard to make high definition blu-ray the successor to DVD as THE household name in home video. Kudos to Sony on a job well done.
