Default Young Frankenstein (that's FronkenSTEEN)

Does anyone know if Young Frankenstein on 50GB Blu-ray disc (originally released in glorious black and white) will include a color version of the film? I wonder if it was shot on color film then converted to grayscale for theatrical release?

Nope: 'Twas shot on B/W stock, for maximum 30's-Universal value. Director's cut.

(I remember when they showed it at a film festival, and of course the audience, knowing every line of the movie, was already primed to whinny every time someone mentioned Frau Blucher's name--
So you can guess the response when Marty Feldman sticks his head out the door one last time toward the camera to say "'...Blucher!' ")

I loved it when Gene Wilder lifts Teri Garr off the wagon, looks at the door and utters: "What Knockers."

And one of my all time favorite sequences is: "Put Zee Kandell Beck!"

What a riot!

Can't wait to see Terri Garr's 'Inga' go for a 'roll in zee hay' in glorious b&w hidef!...."Werewolf!".."There, wolf!" -- this movie is literally peppered w/dozens of such zany, memorable zingers. It'll definitely be a BD title w/high repeatability goodness.

I know. I am SO excited for this film to be on Blu-Ray. My all time favorite Mel Brooks film. I remember when I got my first Blu-Ray player, one of the five free title I picked was BLAZING SADDLES. And at the time, even though it's still an incredibly funny movie, I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. But now it is.

"You know. When my father was down. And these things things would happen to him. The thing's he'd say to me."
"Why, what did he say?"
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN THE BATHROOM DAY AND NIGHT. WHY DON'T YOU GET OUTTA THERE, GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE."

"Ohh, my pride, my joyy!! Ah, you must have been the tallest one in your class. My name is Harold, and I live all alone here. What is your name son?";"MMMMMMMM";"I didn't get that."..."Me, a poor old blind man, and you, a mute. An incredibly BIG mute."

"Come back!...I was going to make espresso!"

"What's the dessert?"
"Schwartzwald Kirchetort."
"(MMMMMMMMM!!)"
"Oh, glad you liked it, I'm not partial to desserts myself."
"Who're you talking to?"
"You, you just made a 'yummy' sound..."

Color version! OMG you don't deserve to watch films on Blu ray or DVD! Your collection should be taken away an should be replaced by crppped VHS versions!

True. If I were president, I would make it a federal offense to have never seen young Frankenstein and spaceballs.
