I'm not sure why it does this, but I am sure when it started (right after we got GH3), but for some reason when I turn on a PS3 controller it automatically goes to controller 2. I know it can't be the guitar taking controller1 because it usually doesn't have its battery inserted. Even right after I turn the PS3 on and then turn on a controller the controller automatically goes to spot 2. I have to manually switch it back to spot 1.
Any ideas? |

If there is a USB controller (like a guitar) in the ps3, that USB controller auto detects to controller one since its the first controller seen by the PS3.
This is because the ps3 can use any USB controller to work with it (even PC controllers, gamepads, joysticks, steering wheels, etc) and control anything. The PC controllers dont have a PS button, so you wouldnt be able to turn them on if it diddnt auto-detect to port one. Just un-plug the guitar when your done, or after launching a game - re-assign the controller to port one. ![]() Worth it - yes. Annoying - ....yes. but you can use any controller! ![]() Hope that helped... |

Thought I should also add that Rock Band takes up 3 ports. Guitar, Bass, and Drums. Thats an even bigger pain when you've also got your guitar (hero guitar) plugged in there.
Puts your Sixaxis or Dualshock 3 into port 5... which takes even longer to switch back. This was my main problem with Rock Band. ![]() (...and the fact that all my crap kept breaking....... repeatidly. but thats a different story ![]() |

I get the same issue sometimes with Rock Band.
Turn the PS3 on via the PS button on the controller. This is very important. The controllers are assigned numerically, starting with #1. If you have the GH3 dongle attached to a USB port (which it often will be, since inserting/removing it every time you play is a pain), powering the system on via the power button on the machine will push the dongle/guitar controller into controller 1, which leaves your SixAxis to be assigned as controller 2 once you power it on. As mentioned above, you can always manually override the controller assignments by bringing up the menu with the PS button. This will swap the controller assignments (I have four Six Axis controllers, and three Rock Band instruments, so assuming I power everything on, my SixAxis controllers can be anything from 1-7, which isn't always what I want). |

Guitar Hero will work with whatever slot the guitar is in.
