Default Will new sales by major retails force BB and CC to lower prices?

Long title I know. After seeing the Target Ads (thanks for that thread by the way), Shopko, Amazon, and a few minor chains having some good sale prices do you think Best Buy and Circuit City will pull their heads out?

I know I use to live for the weekend ads from BB and CC so I could see what I would be getting on Tuesday because they had the best prices on new releases. Best Buy seems to think they have the market on blu-ray and can charge whatever and their sales have been really weak.

Good points. It is nice to see a price reduction/competition between Target and Best Buy. $34.99 for a catalog title (unless we are talking about Blade Runner or CE3K).

Sales happen all the time. Unless there's an actual effort by those stores to undercut BB's prices on the actual week the movies come out that they're selling, then no.... it's not going to change anything.

I'm sure it will make them adjust a little and hopefully soon to promote mass adoption.

I figure with a national store like Target having some good deals it could change things. Crossing my fingers.

As for there being sales all the time, I haven't seen anything like this one from a national chain. Internet doesn't influence retailers, a store across the street selling something like blu-rays cheaper then you, that could.

I used to love going to and buying from the expensive candy stores (BB, CC) to get new titles and to bask in the BD section all around me next to the shrinking DUD section.

Just too expensive. Most retail stores can't quite match the deals that are found on Amazon every day. I save gas money also by purchasing from Amazon. So I get new titles on Wednessday or Thursday instead of Tuesday.

I agree but there are still those rare few who like going into the store. I'm milking Amazon and half.com. By the way, I got my copy of Sleepy Hollow yesterday, Sweet, thanks for the info on it. It's the best version I've seen so far.

Depp and Ricci are spectacular together! Great atmospheric period piece!
