Default Panasonic DMP-BD50 available for $599

The Panasonic DMP-BD50 Blu-Ray Player is available for pre-order at VisualApex for $599 plus $15 shipping. You can also check the tentative specifications. The only part I don't understand is if it supports DTS HD (lossy format) or DTS Master Audio (lossless format).

It should be able to decode DTS-HDMA internally as well as pass via bitstream. It also has 6 channel analog out and is supposed to be BD-Live (2.0): http://idoblu.co.uk/page2%20Blu-ray%20Players.html

Yes, you are correct. On Panasonic website, it says DTS HD with a footnote (#8).
Footnote #8: DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, DTS-HD Master Audio

http://panasonic.net/pavc/blu-ray/dm...fications.html

Now I am satisfied that it supports both DTS codecs.

$600? GTFO!! Way overpriced. It doesn't even have 7.1 analog outs.

I'll stick with my BD30 for the time being. it should last me many years. unless my wife takes it out the garage and does what that other guys wife did with his PS3 LOL. and if that happens I'll be getting a BD30 PLUS all new speakers

how is the panny series on upconversion, i read some complaints a while back on the avs site. thinking about getting this when it comes out, for the audio, and because my bdp-s300 diode has cancer but i don't wanna lose out on video to gain the audio. and i still watch alot of tv on dvd.

Yeesh. Guess I'll be looking a little harder at the BDP-s350. Or maybe see what Oppo does.

my personal track recored with sony is not good, disc read errors on 100% to the point i vowed never to buy sony again if it had to read a disc, broke that rule with the s300 and now im paying for it, but in there defense i have alot of people in and out all the time and alot of smoking going on. but i also have an xbox, pioneer cd player, etc.... that all work fine and have for far longer then my bdp. i was actually looking at the s350 myself to this happened.
