Default Custom pc with Blu-ray drive.

I recently built a pc with a gigabyte ga-ma74gm-s2h motherboard , 2gb of ram,

the pc has a hdmi spot with a ATI 2100 hd video card.
my problem is that i cant plat any BD disk, i run the blu-ray advisory tool, and it says that it doesnt know my video card?? i have the latest Catalyst 8.3 drivers..

Any one else know a solution???? i bought this motherboard just for this reason...

have you tried to actually play a disc or do just think you can't play one, because that tool says so?

this is what i get, A critical component of the player requires Periodic updates. New movies could fail to play if the crital component is not updated promptly. Would you like to update now?

I select yes and i am basically downloading the full program again, i guess updated.. ill see if it works, some reason the Advisory tools gives me all green lights now.. as it was not a little while ago..

Are you using PowerDVD? Sounds like you've just updated to the lastest version.

Try to activate/deactivate the hardware acceleration under options and see, if it affects the choppy playback.

Sounds like you have the OEM version of powerdvd, the one that came with your computer or with your blu ray drive. That won't get you very far, you really need to buy the Ultra version. Also, I don't think your integrated graphics will cut it for blu ray. I don't think any integrated graphics except a few of the very newest chips are fast enough for blu ray. You should buy a graphics card. If you're only gonna use it for playing blu ray get an ATI HD-3450 ($49.99). If you will be also gaming on this computer, you can get an nvidia 8800gts for about $150.

Strange - Cyberlink doesn't mention any of the new 2000 hd series cards in their system requirements (still list the 1600,1800, and 1900's). It may be a problem with PowerDVD if that's what you are using.

Therein lies your problems (I believe). Get (full versions) PowerDVD 8 Ultra or better yet - Get WinDVD 9 Plus Blu-Ray. That should solve your problems.

I have a similar setup. I ordered the Lite-ON BD 401S drive, it came with a BD Version of Power DVD. Every time I tried to play BD's the computer would lock up. The BD Advisor said my CPU needed to be upgraded, that is bull. I upgraded Power DVD to the Ultra version and everything runs fine. CPU usage is at 50-60% during playback. That is on an AMD X2 4000+.

Also, I would suggest upgrading to the GA-MA78GM-SH2 board. HD 3200 ATI chip. Best on-board graphics out there.

The ATI HD-2600 and up all can carry audio, but you have to use a dvi to hdmi adaptor that's made specifically for the card. It's still only able to carry DD & DTS 5.1 audio.

I'm pretty sure it is, but it's an onboard graphich chip. Not powerful enough for blu ray playback.

Just ordered that, i used nero showtime, it plays alot better but still shutters about every 6 seconds.. cpu is loaded down.. when it does shutters.. but i know the dualcore amd can handle it.. so i am guessing the cpu is gettin loaded down with video processing, ill update when it comes in.
