Default LG delivers combo ! (but writeable only BD)

LG Combo HD-DVD/Blu-ray at CES 2007
The GGW-H10N Super Multi DVD Rewriter is a 5.25-inch internal drive that will be available in the first quarter of 2007 for $1199. However, it’s not a complete solution: it can write to Blu ray discs (including the dual layer versions), but it can only read HD-DVD discs. It’s a step in the right direction for video editors looking to move up to high def, but it’s not the all-on-one solution that we might have hoped for.

I wonder whether they are not screwed something with price.
I better consider buying 500-600$ internal PC Blu-ray drive + 200$ XBox addon for HD-DVD and save still a lot of bucks ...

LG also introduces new logo - "SMB" or Super Multi Blue !
I gues when next company comes out with true combo recorder PC drive they should probably invent logo True Multi Blue or something like this

I think HD DVD burning is 'difficult'

Toshiba is finally releasing a drive with a stunning 1x recording speed and no RW support at all.

Hardly mindblowing.

This is superb news for HD-DVD

Not....

Seriously, it appears even LG crippled HD-DVD zealots' hopes that the combo stand-alone player would be the savior.

Unfortunately for people like rdjam and the like, there is no support for HD-DVD's iHD and missing interactivity support........whereas Blu-ray offers 100% full interactivity support.

So technically, the LG offerings are PRIMARILY "BLU-RAY" DEVICES (with only HD-DVD support as minor or "on the side")

Haha, what is Amir and plazman gonna say now ey? :P

I just share this concern that I've seen in today's WSJ among other places:

Things like this LG dual format player simply mean more delays towards getting this format war done and over with, potentially.

That part I don't like.

Yeah, truelly amazing. In the fall of 2005, Toshiba said they'd have a burner and plenty of media available by Spring 2006.

Only a year late. And the HD DVD fans say: nada. Toshiba is immune from being taken to task.
