Question onkyo 605 vs yamaha v663

i've narrowed it down to the two...can someone please point out any noticable differences between the two? (mainly what the onkyo has that the yamaha doesn't)

im asking because i want the 605, but since i live in canada it is very difficult to get a manufacturer warranty on it, whereas i can purchase the yamaha for the same price and get a warranty

so what would i be missing out on if i get the v663?

thanks

Not much it seems

Looks as though the yamaha supports 120Hz and 24Hz refresh rates

There doesn't appear to be any major differences.

The Yamaha supports dual sub woofer pre-outs (something you don't HAVE to use, and a splitter could allow it with the onkyo if you wanted to go that route)

All in all I'd say they are the same. A couple minor differences but nothing that stands out.

so in your opinion do you think i should take my peace of mind and go with the yamaha...rather than worry about not receiving a warranty with the onkyo?

Our resident guru CrackinHedz frequently recommends the Yamaha as a great budget receiver (along with the Onkyo). You can't get a much better endorsement IMO... In Crack I Trust

I believe the major differences are the Yamaha has Burr-Brown DACs and has 120hz support.

They are very good Digital to Analog Converters. They will take a digital signal and turn it into what you actually hear. By reputation the Burr-brown DAC's are very good. Good enough that with decent speakers you'd hear a difference at (loud) volume(s).
