Default Will there be a blu ray rewriteable drive ....

coming out soon for laptops? I recently bought a sony hdr sr12 camcorder and I need to save my recorded videos on the blu ray discs. Otherwise it would take me 12 to 15 regular dvd disks.

Uhm... most laptop BD drives are burner drives(mine is).

Note: This is a 2 year old laptop, UJ-210S drive from the factory.

well, most of it are BD-recorder. I think BD-RE drives are released even before BD-ROM drive.

I know HP does not use BD-RE drive, but instead BD-ROM drive. Most of sony's laptops are using BD-RE drives

Yeah I understand that but when I had my 1 month old Dell laptop built, I dont think a blu ray burner was available. I know a blu ray drive was an option but not the burner. Now I've been searching around for something to have installed into my laptop. All I see are pretty much for a desk top pc. Whats available for laptops seems to be only available if you buy the laptop with it already installed or if you have it customized from Sony Vaio.

Not all models have a BD drive as an option.

The laptops listed on the link can only burn cd's and dvd's. The can only read blu rays, you can't burn blu rays with these and I'm not aware of any laptop drives that will burn blu ray discs.

I know there are BD-RE and BD-ROM drives but does anyone know if there any BD Backup software? Create backup blu-rays from your home collection.

Sofware without copyright protection? There's no point in owning backup software if its copyrighted
