It was more drama...with some moments of thriller and a bit (but not too much in my opinion) of horror.

I loved it. I thought it was beautifully shot, wonderfully acted and had a good story.

I haven't seen it but it look very interesting. Sort of like a horror-drama.

Take a look at the trailer here.

I wanted to check this out in the theaters, but it wasn't playing in my area. The pre-order just came up on the site so I setup the order just in case to make sure I would get one if I decide to go through with the order. So to all those who have seen it would this be a good blind buy for someone who enjoys films even if they are subtitled and not directed by Del Toro?

It's presented by Del Toro and it's good enough to be checked out me thinks.

Saw it a few days ago in the theatre and loved it. More of a cross of The Devils Backbone and The Others with some mystery thrown in. It was beautifully shot and very atmospheric. I think its a definate buy.

Cool...I liked Devil's Backbone...The Others was cool, but I felt like the ending was too similar to the Sixth Sense in too short of a time frame. Still sounds like I'll love it in BD.

Yes, I saw it.

And yes, it's very good.

I'm not a big fan of most modern "horror" movies, but this one is more old-school suspense created out of more genuine, innate fears that people possess. If you want quick edits, loud noises, and lots of gore, look elsewhere. If you want a truly creepy tale with great acting, impressive (but not flashy) direction, and excellent cinematography, look no further.

I love Pan's Labyrinth, but I'm not a huge fan of Devil's Backbone. I like it well enough, but I'm definitely not a big proponent of it. I thought The Orphanage was definitely better, though again, it's not actually directed by Del Toro.

I haven't seen The Others since it came out, though I would say that there's a similarity in tone and visual aesthetics to The Orphanage. But unless I end up loving The Others a lot more after a second look, I'd say The Orphanage is definitely better.

Saw it. Loved it.
It is like Pan's Labyrinth on some ways. It is very realistic. A real suspense thriller and not so much horror imo. Very few graphic/disturbing shots which works for me, usually these things are overdone and just gory, not scary.
But this movie was a real thriller and was a real treat. I recommend it.

Great film I loved it, can't wait to purchase it on Blu. The lead actress is great, she's also in an amazing film with Javier Bardem called The Sea Inside.
