Default Need Advice - PLEASE!

Need Advice - PLEASE!

Yes, I’m a newbie, and desperately need some advice from the experts here. I really like the Pioneer plasmas, however, I know little about these beautiful TVs. At the moment, I’m debating between the PRO-1150HD and the PDP-5080HD. Other than price, could any of you guys/ladies give me some input on which plasma to buy? Thanks in advance

The Panasonics may be an option for you when they come out next month. Otherwise I'd recommend the PRO-1150HD which does 3:3 pulldown providing true 24fps video @ 72hz playback. Both sets are 720p not 1080p... so I recommend the new panasonics like the PZ800 or PZ850. Pioneer will be outsourcing it's new panels to Panasonic. The new panasonic is 1080p, 48Hz for 2:2 pulldown and beautiful colors. PZ750 rated #1 plasma by some. Anyways... you won't be sad either way you go altho you'll probably pay less for the panasonic. :-)

The Pro is the Elite model, which is a notch higher in quality over the regular Pioneer. They're both very fine TVs, but if budget allows I'd say have alook at the 1080p models (the two you mention are only 720p).

As my friend Jeff (MaleManGuy) says, the higher model Panasonics are also excellent. You might want to check out their 800 and 850 series when they come out over the next few months. (Their 85 series is out now, but if your considering the Pioneers, I htink the 800 and 850 will be worth waiting for.)

Pioneer or Panasonic: either way, you can't lose 'cause they're both excellent--ahead of all the others IMHO.

Pioneer 5080HD is what I would get...I have heard so many people just love this tv and I have read on Home Theater Magazine that it beat out other leading 1080p tvs...and the people didn't even know that the tv was 720p until they moved in really close...I personally really like that tv and so have many many other people...

Pioneer Plasmas always looked to have the best picture to me whenever I would see them in the stores vs. the other brands. If I could afford it, I would get one.

I have a Phillips and a Sony. My good friend bought a 50" Pioneer and for the money I would take BOTH my sets over his. But thats just using an eye test to compare his set with mine.

Many thanks for the all input. I went to BB on saturday, and it I believe at this point I'm sold on the PRO-1150HD. I will be buying my plasma within the next week. Of course, I cannot wait to get this bad boy home and hook it up to my 40g PS3. Once again, many thanks to all for the help.
