Question onkyo 605 + buying from ebay...help!

i would like to purchase the 605 but i live in canada and onkyo restricts any 605's to be sent here (meaning the warranty would be void)

so i have located some sellers who will ship it here...but i have some questions
-could i trust them if they offer a warranty?
-would they make me go to onkyo (who wont grant it)?
-if they say they will replace it personally, is this binding in any way?
- if they do offer a warranty is it just onkyo's or their own?

in short, can i trust getting it shipped here and trust a seller to grant me a replacement if it does break down?

thanks, any help is appreciated

they usually state mfg warranty if you have to go through onk. they will also state whatever d.oa. or warranty policy they have. and whatever is stated in the auction page, is binding.

I had the same problem as you did. I live in Canada too and I ended up buying my 805 from Ebay.

Unfortunately I don't really trust those types of e-stores to have good warranties (my dealer even offered one). This is the chance I decided to take in order to save $450.
You can try getting a warranty, and it may turn out well for you, but I'd only do it from one of the ebay stores, not an individual seller. I got mine from username:e_warehouse and they offer a warranty for a moderate price.

thanks...unfortunately that ebay member is no longer there.

but i would like to know how often these receivers break down?
-i found a very reputable ebay store that sells the v663 and they said they can offer a 7 day defect exchange but beyond that is tough since its not an authorized dealer nor am i buying the unit at the MSRP. they said i may have a chance of yamaha honouring my warranty here, but it would just be luck
