Very nice. Was this shot on film, or was it the odd BBC mix of videotape for indoor scenes and 16mm for outdoors?

Restored and all, it'll still be a videotape source, I think (except maybe 16mm for the outside segments).

Great news, will definitely pick this one up.

Now BBC, time to give us a complete Only Fools and Horses boxset. The 80's Specials were a nice start but seriously how is a complete set already not a thing ? considering it's one of the most popular and beloved British sitcoms of all time.

Wasn't some of the first series shot on film? I think one remastered set has been released already (I didn't get that one) so I'll be interested to see how this looks

Series one had a lot of 16mm location work as well as the usual videotaped Television Centre stuff. If that exists, it could look very good indeed.

Series two onwards were lower budgeted, virtually all-studio affairs. I think the end credits of 2 of the opening titles of Go Forth were filmed and both had a single short location sequence, but that’s it.

The final special was 35mm, of course, which should definitely exist. So I hope they don't cheap out.

Dependent on which dvds you have then N&N might not be edited. I think it was fixed in the ultimate edition wasn't it?

The Christmas Special still had a line missing I think. Or a truncated line.

Yeah on the first DVDs of Blackadder they removed "They seek him here, they seek him there..." in Nob and Nobility due to music copyright, but was restored for the remastered set.
The line about nailing the dog up at easter was removed from Christmas Carol on most DVD sets (no idea why). The first US Blackadder set from Warner has it intact, which is why many of us imported it at the time

Anything shot on old SD video will look like a polished turd on BD and will be a minuscule improvement over a DVD.

I wonder if this will include the unaired pilot. The DVD release of Series A of QI included the pilot so I'm hoping this will as well.

Hell yeah. Can’t come soon enough. I hope the video doesn’t look too bad considering the source

I believed the guy who played Baldrick in the pilot is blocking any official release, so unless he’s changed his mind…

(Or if Equity overrule him, as the rules have changed).

I'm not sure why the BBC could not have released the complete series of Only Fools and Horses (including all the specials) on blu-ray in 2021 to celebrate the show's 40th anniversary which is really unfair.

The cut was made by the network way before DVDs. IIRC, the episode got shown in the afternoon, and either the line got complaints or it was cut because they expected complaints. The network retained two different masters, an intact one which could be shown in the evening or overnight slots, and an earlier one which could be shown at any time, but it sounds as if even they didn't keep it straight over the years, because they would haphazardly air one or the other. My understanding is that they released the wrong cut as an oversight, not a deliberate choice.

Scarcely appropriate behavior for the son of God.

I have the Ultimate set, will defo consider getting this.

I never knew about the pilot til i saw it on YouTube a while back. Amazing how much the pilot Blackadder reminded me of the Series 2 character than what he became in Series 1.
