In the year 2017 and 2018 it sounds like it might be time to upgrade ones A/V receiver to a 4K Ultra HD model since all the features people are looking for might become a reality. The ideal A/V receiver should have HDMI 2.0b or HDMI 2.1 with full Dolby Vision support. Some older A/V receivers only support standard HDR10 with HDMI 2.0a. Of course in 2017 and 2018 the secure encrypted HDCP version 2.2 technology is a standard feature on all or most HDMI inputs and outputs.
In the year 2017 and 2018 several A/V receiver manufactures will have the potential to offer, Auro-3D immersive sound processing along with Dolby ATMOS and DTS: X. Therefore consumers will have access to all 3 object based surround sound formats. However 2017 might only have the high-end flagship A/V receivers offering Auro-3D sound decoding, where as in the year 2018 might have several A/V receivers offering the new Auro-3D feature. The following is a select quote from page 8 of the February 2017 Widescreen Review magazine “While several manufactures of surround processors now only provide Dolby ATMOS and DTS: X processing, soon all manufactures of surround processors and receivers will be able to also include Auro-3D Immersive Sound processing, as Texas Instruments has now finalized and is licensing manufactures its chipset, which, due to unavailability, has previously held this introduction back.”

I recently purchased a Denon 6300 with idea to get all of the above. I'm hoping that a firmware update will ensure it has Dolby Vision as per Denon.Uk article.
Anyone know if Auro3D ever offers a sale? That $200 will sting a little after the receiver purchase. |

Yeah kidd! 2018 Holiday season!
![]() My Yamaha A5000 pre/pro does neither Atmos or 4k.... ![]() I do have the Oppo UHD player and am getting a budget 4k panel this month hopefully ![]() In the meantime I'll be able to send the video to the 4k TV, and the audio output to the Yamaha processor. Immersive audio will have to wait just a little longer for me. Enjoy the week fellas! |

RX-A3060 doesn't have version B, nor does it have Auro. It does have it's own proprietary Cinema DSP HD3 that can be applied on top of Atmos or DTS-X.

By the fourth quarter of 2017 there might be a flagship top of the line A/V receiver from someone that might offer both Dolby Vision and Auro 3D. One would need to go to every A/V receiver brand home page and look at the flagship A/V receiver specs. Now Pioneer for 2017 they do have Dolby Vision HDMI 2.0b A/V receivers, however I am not sure if the Pioneer 2017 flagship A/V receiver coming out around September will offer Auro 3D. In 2018 you should see several A/V receivers with both Dolby Vision and Auro 3D from many different A/V receiver manufactories. |

Yamaha RX-V581 user here and I was hoping that Yamaha would release a firmware update for this model for DV but it seems it won't be released to models below the 681....hoping that will change though

![]() New under $500 2017 Pioneer A/V receiver with HDMI 2.0b DolbyVision and virtual ATMOS Will need to wait until around July 2017 to see what the 2017 flagship Pioneer A/V receiver will offer (that is when Pioneer might do a press release). Its my understanding for 2017, all 2017 Pioneer A/V receivers starting at $479 and up will offer HDMI 2.0b with Dolby Vision. But you have to go to the Pioneer website and look at the spec sheets to verify this. Some of the receivers on their website are the old 2016 models, and no 2016 model has Dolby Vision. I believe there's one other, but would have to surf around to find it. *edit Pioneer SC-LX901 has 11 amps. So i guess the answer is no...for now. Last edited by Scarriere; 06-08-2017 at 01:55 PM. Reason: added to it |
