Default Best 2.0 player to get if you have an old receiver?

My receiver doesn't have HDMI out or analog outs. Only coaxial & optical, plus it doesn't have the new encodes or whatever, just DD 5.1 & DTS. I've been looking at the 350 & PS3 but don't know what I should get. I want 2.0 profile though for sure so....

Thanks.

If your receiver does not have HDMI or multi-channel analogue INs, you wont be able to do lossless, regardless of upgrading to a play that decodes.

Sorry....look like its time for a new receiver as well.

One of the good things about having to buy into a HDMI Audio capable AVR is .... You get to enjoy HDMI Audio.

It's worth it to upgrade and if you like Home Theater ..... it's really just a matter of time anyway.

Ok, but let just say I don't want to spend 400+ dollars on a new receiver right now (maybe in a year or so though...). What BD player would you recommend?

I would still recommend you buy the PS3. I think it's the only 2.0 player available currently anyway. It functions perfectly as a Blu Ray player but it does a lot more too (CD, SACD (20,60, or 80GB versions), Upconverted DVD, Games, MP3, MP4, Jpeg, Internet .. tons of stuff.)

(That's what I did. And for a year I used it with my older Denon 2700 via optical cable and the sound was great but HDMI-Audio and lossless sound had to wait till recently when I upgraded the AVR.)

PS3 is a great choice.
