Default BD vs. HD-DVD 12pm @ CES

From the CES 2007 program...

Quote:
Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD and the winner is...
Noon-1pm Monday January 8
LVCC North Hall N254

Top retailers and analysts report on how the competing high-def disc players are fairing in the market and offer their predictions on which format will win the war. Panelists also explore the impact of on-demand services on the new format.

Moderator: Paul Sweeting, Columnist, Variety

Panelist: Robert Zohn, Value Electronics

Panelist: Ben Keen, Chief Analyst, Screen Digest

Panelist: Steve Nickerson, SVP of Market Management, Warner Home Video

Panelist: Andy Parson, Senior Vice President, Product Development, Pioneer and Chairman, U.S. Promotion Committee, Blu-ray Disc Association
Looks like the showdown will be at high-noon. Nice to see Blu-Ray has good representation, while it appears HD-DVD has very little...doh!

Here's the link to the program...

That's strange, I'd swear that the last time I looked there were more HD DVD panelists. Where did they go?

Mulder!

Well, it's entirely possible that there will be more or different panelists. My guess, is that they published this pretty far in advance and they may not have had all of the names yet. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if it changes a bit.

I hope andy brings up the fact that anything HD-DVD can do, Blu-ray can do, but better. 50>30. And that fanatics are doing more harm then good. Will there be a video or transcript of the event? KICK HIS ASS, SEABASS (or in this case, Andy Parsons!)

I'm sure it'll go down to same "We dont' need extra capacity, we dont' need extra bandwidth" thing, since for today they can't really claim HD DVD is cheaper. Though most likely there will be lots of FUD and misinformation as well.

Isn't this guy a heavy HD-DVD supporter? I think I see him over at AVS.

I cannot fathom why they'd invite a nobody loser like him. He seems worse then a used car dealer in his lies all over the forums spreading BS. However, since this is hd-dvd, they have no heavy hitters, so they invite a nobody tv salesman to represent on their side. No shock here.

The Huckster? Yeah..he is billing himself as an expert at AVS..This should be like batting practice for Blu-ray people. Just bat down each lie one by one..

Notice Amir is in that panel list now. Was it a typo that excluded him from the original list (in the OP) or did he slither in at the last minute to save the day...

I will say this. That guy will lose a lot of customers since he has taken sides. He is a dealer whose goal is to make money. Not be a cheerleader for a format that he is most likely getting kick backs for. The fact that he hides the Blu-ray players on his site, making them almost impossible to find tells me he does not have his customers interests at heart. A shill, and a huckster. A Charlie Ergen wannabe...

I don't know why everyone is getting excited over this. Blu Ray is gabage (modded for our junior members - age not postings) Amir said so. Now why don't they just put the big Panny TV up the stage with a feed from FUD central. However if want to record it - sorry not even Blu ray can do that a Googlebyte disc would struggle to fit all the FUD on, then again "we could always lower the bit rate" - should almost fit onto a HD-DVD.
