I want Shang-Chi, Blade, Moon Knight, and Daredevil to team up.

My review from the main thread:

Outside of Infinity War/Endgame, this was the best MCU film since Black Panther and definitely in the top tier overall. I was very impressed! Huge kudos for actually having large amounts of dialogue in the characters native language with subtitles, wish more blockbuster movies would have the guts to do that. The action sequences were well choreographed and shot. There were even some long wide takes, which feels almost revelatory for the MCU! The trailers made the character of Shang-Chi look boring and generic but he has oodles of personality in this movie, and Awkwafina wasn’t annoying and made a great teammate! Their millennial pushing 30 struggles and their cute friendship were actually relatable and endearing. The first half of this movie was so outstandingly good that I do wish they could have found a way to have a more restrained second half without yet another CGI fest with giant creatures and massive battles. A personal fight between Shang-Chi and Wenwu would have sufficed. But even that aspect of the movie was better done than other recent films I’ve seen, and other than a handful of shots of some of the creatures, the VFX were actually pretty solid and still based around actual fighting and stunt work. Finally a hero who doesn’t wear a CGI costume! In conclusion, this was far FAR superior to Black Widow and should have been the official opening of Phase 4 alongside the Loki show. Those 2 stories feel like the start of something actually new and exciting for this franchise. Best movie of 2021 for me so far.

8 out of 10
