Talking Receiver firmware updates???

This may be a pretty dumb question to some of you theater buffs, but if your A/V reciever doesn't have an ethernet port, how in the heck do you get firmware updates for you reciever. I understand how a Blu-ray player without an ethernet port could get it, through a disk, but how would you for an A/V reciever??? I'm looking at purchasing the onkyo 606 when it's released, and it doesn't have one and if a firmware update becomes available, I would want it... please help, thanks a lot!!!!

theres a dedicated port for some firmware updates but as i and many others have done, dsp can be updated by burning a file onto a cdr and playing in a cd player.
as an example :

but the new onks coming out shouldnt really have to worry about it.

as in the example, onk sent me a link for the update. i downloaded it to a pc then burned to a disc to play on a cd player. there are certain buttons to press on the receiver itself to get it ready to accept the update.

One unmentioned wrinkle:

With Onkyo, the CD player has to be hooked up via an optical connection. (Think digital, not analog). I used my Panasonic BD player to update thte DSP firmware on my 705. It doesn't have to be a CD player, but it does have to be a player capable of playing audio CDs with an optical ouptut option.

Although, in general, it is a pretty simple process.
