Default About Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the year

to make this short: is that a worthy game ? smooth 3D when you move around ? is it something like Zelda games with exploration and quests ?

any feedback is welcome to see if i'd like to buy it

I have never tried the PS3 version of the game, but the PC version is one of the better games I've ever played, imho.

The PS3 version should be exactly the same, so I recon you'll get a considerable amount of gaming hours there.

My current savegame is now on 73 hours or so, and there's still alot of unfinished quests. Some more interesting than others, ofcourse.

All I can say is; go for it!

I have the game and it is excellent all around. It is a really an in-depth and mature RPG, since it was originally created on the PC. You can easily spend a good 100+ hours if you explore everywhere and do all the sidequests. The graphics and motion are outstanding. Highly recommended.

It's lots of fun. I prefer the PC version b/c I like to make mods, but from what my friends say it's just as good on the PS3 and runs quite smoothly.
I don't know about load times though. Anyone?

having own both in the past, id say load times are faster than 360 version. overall for how much that is displayed in the game its worth it. ive played it through 3 times. one game i will never give up

It's well worth paying full price. It's one of the best games of this new gen.

Thanks for all your feedback. but nobody said how does this game compare to Zelda e.g. twilight princess ? I ask cause Zelda being a reference for me.

oh and maybe a stupid question but yeah i need to know: do you need any external memory card to save your progress ?

Thanks all

No memory card, you have a HDD on your PS3, all your game saves will be there.

It's a more mature game compared to Zelda, both are Action RPGs and both have Real Time combats, you'll probably like Oblivion if you liked Zelda, there's a lot of explorations on both, more so with Oblivion.

Oblivion is practically endless. And with the add-ons, well. Simply incredible. You can complete the main quest of the game at your leisure. Then simply keep finding more side quests and adventures.

Hard to find better than this.

Thumbs up

I got this a few months ago and I think it's the best single player game I've ever played ( I had 300 hours on it ). The only drawbacks are irreparable bugs, and the additional $20+ for getting Game of the Year Edition.

Oblivion is one of the best games I have ever played.

Its totally open ended do as you wish game with 200+ hours of gameplay (thats without doing the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansion packs included, and only half of all the quests in the main game)

I don't think Zelda is in the same league as Oblivion. I might have offended some Zelda fans there, but thats just what I honestly believe.

Zelda is a considerably different game than Oblivion. Oblivion is much darker, and much more mature, and far more open-ended. It's a true RPG, Zelda is more like an adventure game/pseudo-RPG.

I haven't even gotten to the main story line yet and I've been playing this game for months. I don't even have the expansion... one of the best games I've ever played.

Oblivion originally came out on the 360 and PC. I have played both extensively and think it is one of the best games around. My only reservation about the PS3 version is the fact that it is a conversion and not written for the PS3 - did they do a good job of porting it??

this is a great, very open-ended, and engrossing game. as a warning though, if you need a more "directed" RPG experience you may want to look elsewhere.

as an obsessive power-gamer i sank a ridiculous amount of time into this game, but somewhere along the line i got too lost in all the sidequests and ended up putting it aside.

for me, at least, apparently there is such as thing as "too much to do"...
