Bernie Mac Dies at 50

Comedian Bernie Mac died this morning in Chicago after a long hospitalization from pneumonia.

Mac, whose real name is Bernard McCullough, passed away early this morning at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was 50 years old.

His rep just issued the following statement to TMZ: "Actor/ comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital. No other details are available at this time. We ask that his family's privacy continues to be respected."

Just a few days ago, his rep had said that Mac's condition was "stable" and that he would be in the hospital "a few more weeks."

This deeply saddens me as he was a very talented entertainer. For example, I think he was by far the best and only laugh-out-loud comedian in Kings of Comedy. I'm glad he's had a long-running successful career and wish his family all the best. May he rest in peace.

i guess my newspaper i just got this morning is already old news because my paper says that both him and Morgan Freeman are feeling good again unless in Bernie's case it was more like bad-good-dead but anyways if he really did die then im sorry and he will be missed

Damn, he was a very likable guy and funny as well. It's a shame he died so suddenly, even though it was reported a week ago that he was beating the disease. We'll remember him by his movies and comedy routines. Rest easy brother.

Actor and comedian Bernie Mac dies at age 50

One of my favorite comedians of all time. Definitely a shock. Dam sure will miss him and the excitement he always brought to the stage.
