Default Need "good" camera for Iraq

Hey guys,
I will be going to Iraq in early 2009 and was thinking I should get one of those voodoo time-freezer gizmos. I don't want anything terribly complicated since it's Iraq and Iraq ****ing sucks, but I want something that would look good blown up on my TV for example. Are there consumer "HD" picture cameras? I know very little about cameras obviously. Would have to withstand intense sand and heat, though I will be a Fobbit while I'm there unless something god-awful happens and they run out of FISTers for a mission outside the wire and they pull me.

Ideas?

There are some new Sony point and shoot cameras that saw they have HD Still capture mode on them, as for how it works or looks I have no idea. http://dpreview.com/ that site should have pretty much everything you are looking for, since size, mega pixels and other factors take part in picking a camera I would check out that site to find the best thing for you.

The sand and dirt get in EVERYTHING. Iraq itself isn't nearly as bad as Kuwait, of course. I just used disposables but I could see doing a cheapie digital or two. I'd never take anything really nice, though. I was with a unit at the point of the spear during the initial invasion and occupation, though, so circumstances might well be different if you're going to be rear echelon.

You want to go with The Nikon D100 with the underwater housing unit...I love Nikon have 5 of 'em and they are Workhorses...great build but the lens is more of a concern as the sand will scratch them up.

If you want point and shoot, check out the new Olympus 850 and 1030. They are claimed to be damn near unkillable, and the 1030 is waterPROOF to 33 feet.

As far as 'HD' cameras, I think any digital camera out there these days has higher than HD resolution, and many have a 16x9 capture mode if you want them cropped that way.

Sony makes a camera and a waterproof case for it, should help keep the dust, out. Some of the reviewers say that the protective case helps make it more shock resistant as well.
