With all the new information on lossless audio, I've been looking at improving my setup to include these new formats, as well as improve the connectivity of all my devices. Currently I don't have HDMI input/output on my receiver, and it's something that I'm looking into. I love Pioneer for their audio quality, and in my research, Ive discovered that here in Canada the VSX-9120, found here
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0088271&catid= is the same as the Pioneer Elite receiver VSX-91 TXH found here, http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...TXH.Kuro?tab=B It has 2 HDMI inputs, perfect for the BD player and XBox360, componant input for my DVR cable box, and WILL decode both TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. For the price, in the first link, is this a receiver I should look into, or should I move along, and look into something else. If there is others out there, around this price, could you point me in their direction? Thanks. |

So, you must have gotten the sound to work for you. Are the menu's easy to navigate? I'm really leaning towards this receiver, although it only has 2 HDMI inputs. I think that's all I'd need to get my system up and running. And being able to translate TrueHD and DTS-HD MA make it a really tempting choice. Let me know if there are any problems with it. I'm really wondering.

I have had this Receiver since November. Excellent sound, easy to setup. Remote can be confusing (same key multiple functions) Don't let this stop you. READ the vsx-91 manual, same unit just not Elite series.READ reviews for the vsx-91 and 92 series.Remote is easily replaced by any universal one. Well worth the money and ocasionally I have seen it on sale. Check Visions, Future shop and Bestbuy all carry it.
That future shop price is an excellent price. Last edited by ALLIANCE68; 03-20-2008 at 03:19 AM. |

I am also looking at the 9120, and it has been on sale recently. I wonder should I wait for the 1018. But people said 9120 is a another version of Elite 91txh. So, if 1018 is the new version of 1017, should 9120 still be better than 1018, except for the extra HDMI port?

The sound is amazing (especially the lossless sound). It blew away my Sony STRDG900. Go get it! |
