Default Why does Fox not release the new volumes of Family Guy and other Macfarlane shows on

Bluray ? I mean the episodes are in HD and it seems like most other shows get a DVD and blu ray release. I mean if Fox can put The Simpsons SD seasons on Blu Ray why can't they put their other animated shows that have HD episodes on bluray?

That IS a very good question, I'm not sure. But if Fox decides to, also include the original censored broadcast versions of each episode (I'm a guy who likes my TV program censored). If it's any consolaation, the Family Guy Star Wars specials are on Blu-ray.

It makes the show more funny that way. I don't like watching McFarlane shows uncensored.

The profanity doesn't offend me... but I have to say... both Family Guy and South Park are actually funnier with the *BLEEPS* rather than the cursing.

The cursing is just cursing... the bleeps require you to fill in the blanks, and it just somehow makes it funnier.

Go watch some of those "unnecessarily censored" videos on YouTube where they take clips of ordinary stuff, no cursing, and bleep random words for effect... and the most mundane videos become hilarious!

Meanwhile...

I was disappointed that last year's Family Guy release was DVD, since it was the crossover year when they went to HD broadcast... so I waited to pick it up cheap. That's my plan for next week's release too.

I am disappointed that I watch it in HD and then am asked to settle for a DVD now... so I only settle when it becomes <$15.

I totally agree, they really missed a trick by not adding a 'bleep' soundtrack

I know right!? Good to see I'm not the only one who thinks that.

I prefer stuff uncensored, but really, I don't think the profanity adds much to the humour in these kinds of shows. The bleeps are hilarious.

I don't really understand the need for profanity in Family Guy, I find it gets a bit tedious, like they've run out of proper jokes.

IMO The only two times it was necessary was when
[Show spoiler]R2/Cleveland got shot in the head and when Leia/Lois said I love you
- they did make me laugh.
