Angry Playstation Home Poll and my personal opinon

READ ARTICLE FIRST then answer the poll question:

http://www.platformnation.com/2008/0...ll-fall-of-08/

On a personal note, I'm beginning to grow a bit impatient waiting for the open beta testing and sick and tired of the closed beta teaser vids out there I am seeing.

So the question is when do you think is Home open beta is coming out?

Well basicly, what I don't get is why don't they release the open beta now? I mean, we all know that the service will have a few bugs in it but thats what a beta is for, to patch up those bugs, like when Konami released the MGO beta for an open test in Europe.

I think that no matter what the quality of the beta is it will be released before xmas 08. Sony believes that HOME is a system seller and they will most certainly want this out for the holiday season.

i personally think that there are two things holding HOME back.

1. Stability
2. Security (I think they are realizing that HOME is open to a bunch of different things that can get the sh1t sued out of them.)

Exactly. With people all over the world in the open beta, they can have people report more glitches then in closed beta.

LOL its probably going to be cool as shit then the more you play it the less appealing it gets or maybe the exact opposite. I will try most things one time this will be one of them

Well, I'm pretty sure that Sony will keep us intrested with frequent updates for the service, make it more exciting and such.

If they fully want to launch Home this holiday season, it seems to me the Beta needs to come out in July at the very latest in order to get any meaningful user feedback prior to launch. I don't think there's any way Sony would want to come into the holiday season with their online platform still in Beta form.

It would be cool to have it this holiday season, but since Sony has been largely silent about, that may not happen. Overall, I don't really care much, so long as Home's delay doesn't keep Killzone 2, Resistance 2, or Little Big Planet from hitting their pre-holiday deadlines.

I know a couple of testers and if they released this build to the public Sony would be much worse off than if they delayed it. Releasing it at this stage to the public isn't a good idea as no one will want it and it will probably do too much damage to the Home for the future stunting its growth.

Seriously, Home is a very ambitious project, and it is in no way ready from what I have seen, even now at this late stage it causes the PS3 to crash when you try and to certain things, so an open Beta would cause far too much trouble as fixes would need to come too quickly and that is when jobs get botched.

I am not going to hold my breath for the open beta launch, nor do I have to since I am in the closed beta. I am sure home will appeal to many people but it is not all that great to me. There are a lot of things that Sony is still looking to impliment i bet. I am sure they are waiting for more games to support home, there are probably some out now that are coded to support some features, and also for futrue firmware updates like the ingame XMB. Once all the puzzle peices fall into place, they will release the open beta and have the official launch.

I so don't care.

It looked cool but I'm not sure it will ever happen and eventually I just didn't care about it anymore.

Well sony has a good reason, they have to resolve certain unforseen roadblocks that have nothing to do with code, software, hardware, or ingenuity.

Ones created by ferocious demons that all companies have taken ties with, shedding that will not be easy, but convincing others will be more difficult for so many rely on the demon to give them power.

Looking at the original idea of home, if they had released that with all the features they listed, how quickly before sony would be sued into the appocalypse, the riaa by itself has sued a entire city because there wifi connection's had transmited a pirated song. (read that in a paper magazine)

The goblins nest has been awoken its best to step lightly till you corner each one and eliminate them solid snake method, until all those who appose you are no more.

The concepts of web 2.0 are very scary for a lot of corporations and IT asspecially, they fear losing something, perhaps the control of information.

What is known is perhaps this is the end of the information age, and the dawn of a new era perhaps the dawn of the age of free information... perhaps, perhaps not.

I have no idea what im not allowed to say or what im allowed to say, but I leave you watch a video on you tube called web2.0 the machine is using us.

He had some good insight, and alot of it is proving to be true, I realized after further pondering.. in some ways it lets you think about some of the things that happen that no one bothers with.

These are my opinions perhaps im wrong, perhaps im right, I will continue to enjoy the beta test and watch home mature bit by bit.

We all want home to be stable and secure I think, but that's face it, there will be bugs and what not when home comes up. No one ever releases something that works 100% right off the bat. I think that sony should have a way for users to report bugs so that patches and what not can then be issued. It would make sense for the user to download and install home. When a user logs into home, the home server, if that's what it would be called would check to see if the user requires any patches and if so, then the user has the optiont to download and install the required patches. The matrix online was like this and still is. Home will be a work in progress, but I know that when it does come up, Microsoft will be crushed.

Well I truly hope that they had make it worth the wait as you said they are in the process of doing.
