I just got it so I could starting renting some blu ray movies. Hopefully soon they'll be available in store to rent. But only the early launch movies it seems are available. I recently put Crank, Pearl Harbor, and Black hawk down in my Que and all say "Comming Soon". Anybodys guess how long it will take them to start stocking blu ray new releases.
Anybody else using them to rent blu rays? |

I have been with NF for about 3 years, but I only started renting BD from them about a week ago... the only complaint I have is that while they have them, they don't necessarily have them anywhere close...
For normal movies, I get them the day after they are shipped, last week they shipped me BD Phantom on Monday, but I didn't get it till Friday.... the problem was, that while I am in Texas, the nearest place the had BD Phantom was in Kentucky.... I think you will find that from both companies, at least until the format gets more than a foothold in the mainstream... either that, or like with Blockbuster, they will just say to cool your heels and wait... ![]() |

I went with Blockbuster since you get a free game rental every month in store. And I also didn't go with Netflix because I couldn't find a way to view all there Blu-rays on there site. It just says they have a 150 titles then just show you about a dozen of them. Problaby have to become a member before you can view them all.

Alley,
Totally lessor of two evils. Neither is better and you can probably find a billion complaints about each online. I live overseas with the military and I typically can only receive one set of shipments in a month. 10 days each way. I like netflix because they always seem to have what I want when I want. I gave Blockbuster a try with their free trial. I had hiccups immediately with their internet site and canceled. Now I have further problems because they keep sending me videos I did not order with a canceled account. I say Netflix is the way to go because this is their only business. They have no stores. |

I tried Blockbuster for two days. I had no luck in getting anything I wanted - mostly long wait, very long wait, short wait and the ever vague coming soon.
I cancelled. I have better luck with Netflix. |

I had netflix a number of years ago when they first started out. Have they got any better about sending out movies?
At first I would select movies and they would send them right away, then after a year they would always be "out of stock" and I would have a list of 20 movies that I wanted and they would never have them. I got tired of requesting stuff and having nothing I wanted to watch immediately available to watch. I know they have been accused of holding back movies to those who "order too many or too often." I recall hearing about a guy had two accounts. One account he ordered movie after movie, tons of movies every month. The other account he ordered only like 3 or 4 a month. Then he would request movies on the one account and would be told they were not current available, and then sign in under his other account, request the same movie and they were available for that account. I understand they need to make money and all and if someone orders 20 per month they lose money in postage. Did they every change their policies or turns to state a restriction of maximum quantities per month which can be ordered? Or do they still have the unlimited rentals, but secretly hold back movies to slow down those who request too many movies? Netfilx polices reminds me of the webhosting companies which state they will give you unlimited bandwidth with your website. But if you use too much bandwidth then they will shut off your site and tell you to fork over more money as you are using too much of their "unlimited bandwidth." |
