God of War 3 will feature 2-player co-op and 1080p graphics so having on-line game-play makes sense. Just was announced back in the days when GoW 3 was first announced...

As much as online games can be fun, I honestly hope that not ALL games have to be online or have online play in the future. There are plenty of truly classic one player games, and I don't want to see them ruined because some suit thinks "everything's online these days! do it!" I'm afraid they'll stop making one player games altogether if the trend continues. And honestly, if that happened, I think my gaming days would be over.

If they do it correctly, i.e. playing as some of the Gods, etc... then it'll work as a nice extra and extent the life of the game(something GoW never had), if they just slap it on there, then no.

My 2 cents on the online feature

The Challenge of the Gods - Online 2 players
Mortal Kombat Style Showdowns - Online 2 players
Co-op - Online 2 players
Kratos Vs Gods - Online 2 players
Fastest Puzzle Solving - 2 teams 4 players

yeah few of those could work, but I wish they would focus on the single player campaign first and than online if they HAVE to have it. But as with anything these days, guys in suits come in and ruin everything for us.

I agree that I dont feel the need for every single game to have multiplayer, but I also dont agree that having multiplayer might ruin it.

If the main story mode remains 1p, or MAYBE 2p co-op, then thats fine. And if they decide to add 2p coop or some random multiplayer challenge modes or something, then thats fine too.

I don't understand this thinking. Will MGS4 SP suffer because of MP? Did GTA4 SP suffer because of MP? The answer is NO and the developers know that SP is a very important part of their game. Uncharted could've really benefitted with some online MP there. I really hope they add that for the 2nd one. I have no doubts that GoW3 and Uncharted 2 will have some great SP experiences, but they should add MP content so that the life of the game is longer and we get better value for our money because let's face it, 60 bucks is pretty damn expensive for a videogame.

I don't think 2P Co Op would work in GoW (in Uncharted, yes it could, but not in GoW), online MP could work beautifully though on both games.

Did Warhawk suffer because of multiplayer? Uh, if you wanted to play it single player with story mode, hell yeah it did. What about all the games that people say have a really short single player mode, but multiplayer is great? Those also probably suffered due to more being put into multiplayer. Look at the Ultima series of RPGs-- once my favorite, turned into an online only game I had no interest in. So yeah, multiplayer can and has screwed up 1 player games in the past. Not always (and I won't argue that, some multiplayer modes are good), but yes, it has most certainly harmed 1 player games in the past. You also sometimes get games where neither mode is very good because the programmers couldn't focus on one mode-- which is why Warhawk went MP only, and why Uncharted was single only.

Pick one single player with MP as add-ons out of hundreds out there and have at it that barely populates couple of servers. I'd rather have a good, lengthy single player than short single player with MP which I will only play for about 1-2 weeks longer before I'll move on...
It takes time to create MP in addition to SP which takes away the focus from SP and result makes the whole game crap. I don't really see how GoW3 can benefit from MP besides 1v1 or death match but it will last for so long before you move on to another game. There is a reason why game like COD4 is MP with SP as an add-on and GoW is SP with no MP.
Will MGS suffer? I don't know the game isn't out yet, is it? how can you say no is beyond me, unless you can predict future. Same goes got GTAIV, game isn't long enough to tell.

little late in development for adding online play... maybe an online scoring system, or to share scores..GOW3 has been almost done for awhile.. and one person is not going to add alot of content to a new feature this late in development.
