I always watched it when I was a kid. It was silly, but good. Good enough for them to remake the thing (which I don't think they should, it was a cheap-looking cult film, and now they are turning it into 300).

It's a fun movie if you take into account that it is a early 80's stop motion effect movie. But there was lot's of great actors. The actors playing the god are quite an a group.

I enjoy the original and will be picking this up day one. Excited about the remake. So hard these days to come up with an original idea, most everything has been done already. Maybe Chris Nolan can redo Star Wars franchise and make something good out of Episodes 1, 2 & 3...:

I watched it as a kid. I don't remember it as a classic, but a lot of fun. Not sure I'd really dig it today. But I hafta admit, putting it in a digibook definitely puts it on my radar to buy.

I saw it at the theater when it was released and enjoyed it; will definitely be getting the BD.

Something is lacking between the image of Harry Hamlin and that font they used. Seems off.

I guess it is just another badly done photoshop cover. I think they choose a local elementary school and have children submit fake covers.

Definitely worth a buy IMO. This, along with Logan's Run and a few other '70s and '80s sci-fi/fantasy/action flicks, was one of the movies that KTLA and other such superstations offered by our cable company would show over and over and that I would watch obsessibely as a kid. I was very disappointed when this one was rumored and then never appeared. Glad to see it back on the schedule. One bit of warning though, I can tell you that no matter how good of a job they do on remastering, this one will never look pretty and shiny. It has always been a rough looking film. I just hope they don't try to scrub it in a misguided attempt at making it look better. It is supposed to look rough, like pretty much every Ray Harryhausen stop motion film. I also hope they are able to make the audio sound as good as possible, I don't have overly high expectations here either, but if they can clean it up as much as possible without losing dynamic range and detail and get some ambience and score into the surrounds, it should enhance the experience. The film's score has always been one of my favorites from that time.

Saw it in the theater when I was 15. It was a fun film but far from a "classic". No way I would pay more than 12.99 for that film.

Great fantasy film. Terrible cover art. Thankfully it's being released in the UK so I'm not stuck with a digibook.

I remember seeing VH-1's "I Love the 80's" modern-day commentators treating the Ray Harryhausen...RAY HARRYHAUSEN, kids, even if you don't know the name, you must've bought Seventh Voyage of Sinbad by now...stop-motion as if it was some "quaint" so-80's-FX embarrassment:
"I mean, they didn't even try to pretend they didn't have CGI back then!"

(Learn the lesson, kids, and try not to make the same tragic mistake:
Despite a little bit of '81 Star Wars-envy, those of cooler and wiser heads know to treat the movie as the "Jason & the Argonauts" sequel it wanted to be--
And no, not like the "It's sort of like the 300-ish remake!" that the cover wants us to confuse it for. )

Have to disagree. It is definitely not a classic in the sense of being a great work of plot and presentation, but insofar as it is probably one of the best representations of its subgenre, the stop motion fantasy/sci-fi epic, I think it rates as a classic. Even camp and below B can be classic.
