Default is it me?

or are prices really dropping on HD T.V.'s lately? i went into BB today and saw some great open box price tv's and alot of the new ones are being marked down saw the sony 60" A3000 on clearance for like $1781 or something like that , i could not believe it...

do you think that new OLED has something to do with driving down the prices or is it just new models coming out soon?

Just new models coming out, and the technology is much more efficient to make, thus lowering prices.

OLED won't be a standard anytime soon (CNET says at least ten years or more).

It bothers me that when people buy the newest model, it becomes old within six months to a year.

In the case of the Sony A3000 models, Sony is getting out of the rear projection market, so the prices on those have dropped to clear inventory.

there is no way that new technology like OLED is affecting the price of HDTV's today. as said above OLED is not going to be widely adopted for at least 10 years.

I've noticed lately that a lot of places like Best Buy and Circuit City are starting to bargain with folks to sell stuff. I was going to get some speaker stands last week at best Buy. I thought they were 59.00 but they were 95.00, and when I was putting them back the manager said if I still wanted them he would knock off 20 bucks. I've never had that happen before. Anyone else seen this type of sales tactic anywhere?

There was also something in the news about Sony dropping the prices on their TVs to gain back market share as well as because of the stimulus checks going out. Supposedly all of the other manufacturers are going to respond the same way.

More and more people are buying large HDTV now adays. As the volume goes up the prices go down as the manufacturers dont need to make as much profit on each unit as now they are selling more.

Prices tend to drop when new technology is on the way for release. thats how they get rid of the old stock, to open room for a new stock.

I knew it was was not directly due to OLED, but was thinking that all these manufacturers are down sizing there old stock and either getting ready for new stock or some new technology coming down the road.

either way its a good time to buy for most consumers.
