All of them. Every single one.

Wait, let me rescind that. All of the ones from the First World War and the Second World War; everything from Memphis Belle to the Guns at Navarone, Patton to Six oclock High. Saving Private Ryan to Tora, Tora, Tora. All Quiet on the Western Front to Thin Red Line.

None of the Vietnam War/Gulf War setting movies, though.

Band of Brothers
Saving Private Ryan

Glory
The Longest Day
The Guns of Navarone
Apocalypse Now
Platoon
Full Metal Jacket
Hamburger Hill
We Were Soldiers
Black Hawk Down
The Pianist
Enemy at the Gates
Patton

They really need to make a decent film about the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan once the dust settles a bit more. The current crop of movies about the GWOT just flat out sucks balls. Bruce Willis had expressed interest in doing a film about a Stryker unit that operated out of Mosul. Maybe they should do a movie about my old scout platoon. Hell, we were already featured in a television documentary and Time magazine.

The one's I can relate too, having been in the U.S. Marine Corps for 20 years are:

Full Metal Jacket - The first half, since I was a Drill Instructor!
We were Soldiers - The most realistic representation of Viet Nam

Looking over everyone's choices, the one that portrays the horrors of war was Apocalypse Now. [Jim]

Platoon goes under the same category, and both are probably my favorite war films.

Blu Falcon, I agree with your list. Now if they all get released on BD then I will gladly dump my DVDs and bask in HD heaven for quite some time.

Jeez... maybe it would be best to have a thread for "worst war films". Most of them are pretty good!

Anyone ever seen A Midnight Clear?

Ethan Hawke, Gary Sinise. It's a very overlooked, very great film.
