I Hooked up my 605 as follows:
PS3 and Dish network DVR to the 2 HDMI inputs. Up convert DVD player(used as CD player) to CD input HD-DVD player to component input. Then HDMI output to TV. No matter what I'm using, everything gets routed through the HDMI to the TV. Works great. |

Sorry to jump in your thread haze, but I have the 605 coming in tomorrow and have pretty much the same question.
Would this be the proper setup? PS3 to TV by component PS3 to Onkyo by HDMI Optical cable from Comcast HD box to Onkyo What is the purpose of the HDMI out going to the TV? Sorry, still an audio newbie. |

To keep the signal digital and avoid deinterlacing and scaling errors for one thing. That's especially going to be a problem on a Phillips. Make sure BLu-ray output is set to 720p
PS3 HDMI to Reciever, Reciever HDMI to TV, make sure you set your delays, since your set probably has some processing lag |

Comcast HD > HDMI > Onkyo 605 That way, you have both PS3 and Comcast HD box going to the Onkyo via HDMI, with one HDMI out from the Onkyo to the TV. |

My related question is...
If I'm using a single HDMI input from my Onkyo 805 to Samsung LN-T4661F, is there a way to configure different calibration settings on the TV depending on the source (e.g. Directv, PS3, 360, etc.)? As Blu Haze has pointed out, the TV sees all sources as one input. Thanks! |

What I would do is connect the PS3 and 360 to the Receiver, and share the settings...calibrated for bluray of course. Then connect the DirecTV directly to the TV, run an optical cable for audio. ![]() Last edited by crackinhedz; 05-07-2008 at 11:47 PM. |
