I have mine in the living room, and it is used often. It would not consider it as a long term option (watching movies) for the bedroom (specially since my wife has been known to leave the bedroom BD player running the whole night).

[QUOTE=crackinhedz;865303]I'll agree, my first generation 20gb PS3 can kick up the noise, but usually is normally drowned out by the audio.
But my new 40gb? ![]() ![]() that thing is so quiet, it could sneak past a Vietnam War vet sleeping with one eye open. ![]() I use my ps3 more and more lately. My stand alone doesn't decode F-ALL from the new generation, so rather then spend another 4 or 5 hundred dollars, I'm going to use my PS3 for the new codecs. Later on, when everything levels out (as EVERYTHING does) I'll pick up a better stand alone. I maintain that these first Blu Ray players we all have (including the PS3) have been great for building our collections. We wouldn't have out collections without them. Better times are coming though and for now, I completely agree with the original poster. Bring the rock all, ~LD~ |

The real reason to own a PS3 is that the studios are using the PS3 as the target player for testing purposes since it makes up such a large part of the BD install base. I don't foresee this changing anytime soon. If a Bd release won't work on a PS3 it simply wouldn't be released.
