I presume you have either a BDP-S300/1?

I'm up and running on 3.70 for the BDP-S1.

Chirs Walker, a Pioneer rep, over at the other forum posted that firmware updates became available today for their players as well. I'd presume the firmware updates for the Sony players provide very similiar changes.

CHANGE HISTORY

- Enhances stability of BD-Java playback (*)
- Fixes uncontrollable menu of certain DVD-Video disc.
- Fixes intermittent audio during playback of certain BD-ROM disc.
- Performance improvement
* The player's action can be slower than expected depending on contents (menu, game, etc.) included in certain BD-Java discs.

Default I saw this coming!

Holy crap, on 3/3 I posted how I dreamt the BDP-S300 3.80 firmware came out! I dreamed specifically 3.80, not 4.xx as I had hoped! So the dream was the night of 3/2.

Check out the link. It is NOT edited.

But seriously, you need to give me this week's lottery numbers or tell me when Groundhog Day will come out on Blu-ray or something helpful.

I'd like to know what it buys me before I download it, so I'll be checking the esupport web site semi-regularly. However, if the Sony fixes are similar to the ones listed for the Pioneer, I'll definitely get it, because I posted a thread earlier about my Sony S1 not being able to control the menu on certain DVDs (not Blu's).

This is what I would like to know? It's always some java enhancement for better whatever. What's it reallyt doing? It seems that the last three or four have been for the exact same thing

I agree. Where is the firmware upgrade that will allow the Sony BDP-S300 to internally decode Dolby True HD MA and send it to the receiver via HDMI? (My Sony 710 doesn't decode it.).

Edit: I also want a firmware update that will make popcorn and serve it to me.

LOL!

I'll see what I can do. Moreover, I expect to see lottery numbers for me. Could you imagine such a thing? Not having to worry about money is a great burden off the chest of many people.

But there are people who don't know how to handle money, so they win the lottery, probably pay off their bills, and somehow end up in even LARGER debt. Called "sudden wealth syndrome". The elation of winning is short lived. People who earned the money were always more self satisfied in the end.

"Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons." - Wood Allen

It does Dolby True now. Set your Dolby setting to lpcm in the hdmi settings. You wont get DTS-MA

What you need to understand is that code is written for a chipset. If the chipset can not support the sound options you desire, a coding overlay may not be able to provide that function. Period.

Sure, we have seen Java enhancements since 2.60 but Java is a big part of BD. Java tweaks will load BD-J discs quicker, and generally make the menu response less sluggish. Perhaps they need to nail the Java down before they can tweak the sound.

Non BD-J discs all load in under 30 seconds. Getting BD-J load times down makes the player more marketable because it loads more akin to other "fast" stand alone players.

tron3, I love my BDP-S1. It is amazing how the performance has changed with the updates. My original firmware was 1.06.

Ok I get that. But I already did that Dolby tru hd and all that on like fireware 3. something awhile ago for my BDP-S1. I understand about the the sluggish load time. But what I would like to know is why does the screen go black and you get the blue line and loading forever
