Default converting home movies

I took a reel of regular 8mm Kodachrome home movies--I have several--to a local business to convert to DVD. I am not happy with the results because the color is washed out and the contrast too dark. The technician said Blu-ray would correct this but didn't know anyone who was using the process to convert home movies. Is there a Blu-ray converter out there and what's a fair price per foot? Need some advice thank you.

probably need to import to a computer software program, and burn onto disk with the Blu-burner.

I use "Pinnacle" home studio computer software programs. They are really user-friendly to use. and have made some really cool discs of my family from our old home movies from the 80s.

You'll save some money if you wait a year or two and let the costs of this new tech come down, and you'll have more choices of how to do it.
