Sony has confirmed that the open beta for the PlayStation Home service on the PS3 will kick off this November.

This is great news for PS3 owners.

That also confirms no Home for 2008 (unless the open beta only lasts a month,and even then...)

But at least an open Beta is a good step toward release...

Boston] (dbTechno) - Sony has confirmed that the open beta for the PlayStation Home service on the PS3 will kick off this November.

The creative director of PlayStation Home has also confirmed that the closed beta will be expanded in July to add more and more players into the virtual world.

PlayStation Home is the highly-anticipated online service for the Sony PS3, and is believed to be Sony’s answer to Xbox Live.

There have been rumors going around for over a year now in regards to when the open beta for Home will actually kick off, but there has yet to be any confirmation of it until now.

It has now been confirmed that Sony will go into open beta with Home this November.

Maybe for the expanded closed beta in July but I hope the open beta is available to all or on a first come first serve basis if the number is limited.

Anyway, I'm not the target audience but I am curious to see it.

home feels more like vaporware than anything... why announce it if you just keep pushing it back? it was exciting, but the more i hear about it the less i'm excited for it.

It's sad, I really don't care anymore. I'll check it out once it's release, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

they already said that you won't see home till 2009. We knew this weeks ago.
I am glad to see that the beta will be out this year, I just wish it was sooner.
Will it be available to everyone or will there be only a select few or some kind of purchase/offer to get in?

This confirmation from Sony means absolutely nothing. They've promised so many things to us: dates, features, etc. I don't have hard feelings, I have just learned that they are not reliable.
