Default Help! Klipsch F-2 Synergy3 or Polk Monitor 70 Front Speakers?

I need help guys! Right now i have 2 Cerwin Vega LS-12 front speakers and I narrowed down 2 different sets of Front speakers that are in my price range to replace those huge Vegas, The Klipsch F-2 Synergy 3 floor speakers or the Polk Monitor 70. I am using an Infinity PS-12 subwoofer, Can anyone recommend either one of these sets of speakers?

I hate to sound repetitive, but.....Go and listen to them yourself . You will be the one that has to live with them. If you can, demo them in your own home - you will truly know then

I like the Polk 70 with four 6 1/2" drivers compared to the two 6 1/2" on the Klipsch. Also the frequency range is a little better on the Polks...but assuming you would pass the lowest frequencies off to the sub this might not matter too much.

My vote is the Polks, but the Klipsch's certainly are nice too.

I haven"t bought front speakers in 10 years and i was just looking for a little advice on what would go good with setup I already have, I have listened to both sets of speakers and I really can't tell a huge difference between them except for the price, the cerwin vegas I have take up alot of space in my living room.

as mentioned,

listen to em and see which one YOU prefer.

also, if you plan to head into klipsch, id definitely choose the reference series instead of the synergy.

You have two receivers listed in your signature. Would you use the Onkyo or the Klipsch with the new speakers? I would suggest auditioning the speakers with at least the same receiver manufacturer you plan on using them with. Some speakers match better with some receivers or amps compared to others.

You're really going to have to let your ears decide. Both companies can make decent speakers for the price. I would also suggest listening to Monitor Audio's Bronze speaker line, which is their entry level line. You should be able to find them at Magnolia Hi-Fi or other hi end shops.

The Monitor Audio BR5 or BR6 tower speakers are pretty incredible. Here's a link to their web page. Go check out the review section.

I have the synergy series and love them, sure I could of tried to go reference series but their hard to find around here and I'd like to complete my whole system with one series instead of getting ripped off later for some hard to find speakers.

Is there a big sound difference between the synergy series and the reference series.

Never had a chance to really audition the reference series but there are alot of forum users that have them. I've just heard there more intended towards music use. Not fact, just what i've heard trolios.

With all due respect to Ranger-R, yes there is a significant difference.

you can find most of the reference series in mom and pop stores, or better yet, do some researching and you can find a good authorized dealer via their website.

id also try to recommend that keeping the speakers
1. within the same manufacturer,
2. timbre matched as close as possible,
3. drivers 'identical' to each other...

just an afterthought when i read the op's posting

sarge, what are you planning to purchase for your center tho?
