Talking 'Lie to Me'

This is by far the episode I am most looking forward to in entire run of the series thus far. It will be the 2nd episode aired once the show returns in June, but the 12th episode of the second season overall. I am a HUGE fan of Shawn Ryan's 'The Shield' and this will be great to see so many familiar faces back to work on Shawn's latest hit.

Quote:
OK, the laugh-a-minute Seinfeld reunion on Curb Your Enthusiasm, this probably won’t be. But The Ausiello Files has learned that The Shield executive producer Shawn Ryan has rounded up half a dozen members of his old show’s cast to guest star on his new show, Lie to Me.

Through next Tuesday, hard at work on the season’s 12th episode, “Pied Piper,” will be Shield alumni Benito Martinez, Catherine Dent, Kenny Johnson, David Marciano, Cathy Cahlin Ryan and David Rees Snell. The hour’s plot: Lie to Me’s regular crimefighters, Lightman (Tim Roth) and Zoe (Jennifer Beals), wonder whether (oopsie!) they sent the wrong child murderer to prison nearly two decades earlier.

So who’s who?

Marciano plays the Death Row killer; Ryan, his ex; Snell, his snitch of a brother; Martinez and Dent, the uncle and aunt of the ill-fated little boy; and Johnson… let’s just say he becomes a person of interest in the case.

Shawn Ryan leaving 'Lie to Me'
Quote:
If Fox picks up "Lie to Me" for next season, showrunner Shawn Ryan isn't coming with it.

With his plate full with other projects, Ryan has told Fox he no longer wants to run the crime drama, which has struggled in the ratings this season. Ryan is already committed to his upcoming FX private eye drama "Terriers," while his Fox police drama pilot "Ride Along" is looking strong for a fall pickup.

"Lie to Me" wasn't Ryan's show to start with, the talented "Shield" writer-producer was brought in last year to run the drama's second season. The fate of the show seemed in particularly in question when Fox pushed its return from hiatus into the summer.

Along with "Human Target," the procedural is awaiting a verdict from the network. Fox may or may not make a ruling on "Lie" before the network's upfront presentation to advertisers later this month.

Since Fox is in the luxury position of having several pilots it likes and a limited number of slots, there's a also chance the network might not bring back either show, but I suspect "Target" will squeak into a second season.

"Lie" returns June 7 with 12 episodes left and being paired with Fox's new show "The Good Guys."

The networks need to stop this bullshit of splitting shows seasons up with several months in between. It's hurting the show I'd say 90% of the time.

I know I don't see the reasoning behind it. Like when V premiered in November and after only 4 episodes took a 6 month break. If it where my decision at the network I would have either aired them consecutively starting in November or waiting until March and aired them consecutively than. Either way breaking seasons into 4 or 5 month gaps and releasing the first half of the seasons on DVD is obnoxious and idiotic in my mind. That's probably one of the reasons Shawn Ryan is jumping ship to work on Terriers full time right now, FX doesn't ever pull that crap, everything is consecutive with no weeks off.

Well I understand why they do it, because they have so many shows that they can't put all of them on during the same several months. This way they can space them out, and basically have nearly round the year programming.

But it drives me crazy to realize that it's the second half of Season 2 that's getting ready to air, and not season 3 which I thought it was. lol
